(Butler, PA) Mitchell Covert fired the lowest score for the Butler County Community College golf team for the seventh time in the past 20 matches as the Pioneers moved to 5-2 this spring with a split April 21 at the par-72 Lake Arthur Golf Club near Butler.

Covert shot an 80 and finished as runner-up to medalist Luke Anderchak, Westmoreland County Community College, who had a 79.

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ ended with a 332 and placed second to Westmoreland County Community College, which had a 325. The Pioneers defeated the Community College of Allegheny County, which had a 344.

Gannon Brown recorded an 82 for the Pioneers. ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s Jaxon Salata and Parker Worsley had 85s and Bodie Spohn, an 87.

The lowest four individual scores from each squad are counted to determine a team total.

Will Dempsey led the Community College of Allegheny County with an 82.

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s women’s team did not compete April 21.

Covert finished as medalist for ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ with a 77 on April 22, 2025; with a 75 on May 2 and with a 72 on Oct. 3. He also recorded the Pioneers’ lowest score with a 77 on Sept. 8, with a 75 on Sept. 30 and with a 73 on Oct. 7.

Covert is a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City; and Salata, Worsley, Spohn and Brown, of Butler High.

The Pioneers’ next match is April 27 at Windber Country Club in Salix against Westmoreland County Community College, the Community College of Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
