(Latrobe, PA) Jaxon Salata finished as medalist with a career-low 71 as a Butler County Community College golfer April 17 and led the Pioneers again in a spring season match in which ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ improved to 4-1. 

Salata’s 1-over, Mitchell Covert’s 72 and Mason Phillips’ 73 sparked ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ to a 296 and victories against Westmoreland County Community College, which had a 300, and the Community College of Allegheny County, which shot a 326, at Glengarry Golf Links in Latrobe.

Salata also had ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s lowest score, a 6-over 78, on April 10 at North Park Golf Course in Allison Park. He earned medalist honor April 17 for the second time at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ since recording a 1-over 73 Sept. 19 at Lake Arthur Golf Club near Butler.

Three ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ golfers — Parker Worsley, Maddox Shaffer and Bodie Spohn — shot 80s.

The lowest four individual scores from each squad are counted to determine a team total.

Aiden Duffy and Brodie Cuthbert led Westmoreland County with 72s. Will Dempsey led CCAC with a 76. 

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s women’s team did not compete April 17.

Salata, Worsley and Spohn are graduates of Butler Senior High School; Covert, of Lincoln in Ellwood City; Phillips, of Knoch; and Shaffer, of Armstrong.

The Pioneers’ next match is April 21 at Lake Arthur Golf Club near Butler against Westmoreland County Community College, the Community College of Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
