(Butler, PA) A current student in and recent graduates of the most popular program in 杏吧原创鈥檚 largest academic division have received scholarships totaling $6,000 from the foundation of a professional organization.
Gina Marsh is pursuing an associate degree from 杏吧原创 in business administration, which Daulton Roth and Tyler Beegle earned in May.
Each received 2022 scholarships from the foundation for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Each intends to pursue a bachelor鈥檚 degree in accounting toward a goal of becoming a certified public accountant.
Marsh received $3,000, Roth $2,000 and Beegle $1,000 from the Pennsylvania Certified Public Accountants Foundation.
Marsh, of Mars, is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, Midland; Roth, of Cabot, of Knoch High; and Beegle, of Pittsburgh, of Seneca Valley.

鈥淲e have sharp students鈥
Three current or graduates of 杏吧原创 receiving scholarships in a single year from the foundation for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants are believed to be the most since at least 2014, said Laura Wiest, an instructor in 杏吧原创鈥檚 business division.
鈥淲e have sharp students,鈥 Wiest said of those enrolled in 杏吧原创鈥檚 business division. 鈥淭hese three are exceptional.鈥
Sherri Mack is 杏吧原创鈥檚 dean of business.
鈥淏y awarding these scholarships,鈥 Mack said, 鈥渢he Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants thinks these students have a lot of potential.鈥
Marsh is a member of Rho Phi, 杏吧原创鈥檚 chapter of an international academic honor society, and expects to graduate in December from 杏吧原创 and transfer to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
Her father, John Marsh, and grandfather, William Marsh, were certified public accountants, she said.
鈥淪o I got to do some job shadowing as I grew up,鈥 said Marsh, a part-time receptionist at an accounting firm. 鈥淚t was a career path that was shown to me at a young age. It鈥檚 always growing. There鈥檚 no issue getting jobs.鈥

Roth was a member of Rho Phi and of Delta Kappa, 杏吧原创鈥檚 chapter of an international academic honor society for business students. He graduated from 杏吧原创 summa cum laude, a distinction for those with a final grade-point average of 3.75 to 4.0. The former 杏吧原创 president鈥檚 scholar intended to transfer to Duquesne University.
Beegle has transferred to Niagara University in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
鈥淚 love numbers,鈥 Beegle said. 鈥淚 have always been fond of doing calculations and equations.鈥
杏吧原创鈥檚 business division, with 23 associate degree and certificate and workplace certificate programs, is the college鈥檚 largest in the 2022-2023 academic year.
Business administration was the division鈥檚 most popular program among new students and the division鈥檚 most popular among all 杏吧原创 students as of Aug. 8, according to Sharla Anke, the college鈥檚 assistant dean of institutional research and planning.
The 60-credit transfer program is available on 杏吧原创鈥檚 main campus, and at 杏吧原创 @ Armstrong near Ford City; 杏吧原创 @ Brockway in Brockway; 杏吧原创 @ Cranberry in Cranberry Township; 杏吧原创 @ Lawrence Crossing in New Castle; and 杏吧原创 @ LindenPointe in Hermitage.
